Crouch To Avoid Radar – A Basic Halo 3 Tip

110907-crouch-baner.jpgDid you know that you can crouch to “disappear” from enemy radar in Halo? Well, you do now. In fact, you should learn to implement this (seemingly basic) maneuver early and often because it works very well — Especially in the many new Halo 3 maps (like Narrows) with lots of dark corners to hide in.

I’m not saying you should camp all day in one spot. That’s no fun. All I’m suggesting is that you can A) crouch when you’re sneaking up on some fool who’s got his back to you and/or B) crouch in a corner when the enemy is approaching your area.Typically, if somebody’s got their back to you, they’re an easy kill and you won’t need to crouch. But, it is fun to sneak up on em and melee their ass.

Most of the time I’ll use the second scenario - Crouch when the enemy is coming at you. Here’s an example from the other day.

Some chump ran right past me because I was crouched and didn’t show up on his radar:110907-crouch1.jpg

Which lead to an easy kill for me :)

Yes. Yes crouching to avoid radar does work. And yes, it’s a basic tip that most of us Halo lovers already know. (Especially if you’re like me and you’ve been playing since Halo 1.)

However, there are many, many Halo 3 owners who are playing the Halo series for the first time. That’s what lead me to write this simple post about the very basic tip that we assume everybody already knows.

Just standing still means that you don’t appear on radar.

All well and good, but on construct with all the tiers, looking at the radar only causes confusion anyway.

Yes, construct is a different animal. I’ve been burned many times trying to make sense of the radar on that level. You’re better off avoiding it.

This is indeed an old thing, (Since halo 1) But many people don’t know about it!

Many of my friends who i have known since Halo 2 live are just learning this by watching my file shares!

So good job thinking to post this, most gamers forget that common knowledge is something that isn’t very common in games.

its a handy tip, especially as people tend too miss some obvious tricks when they learn the game for the first time and take awhile too notice. effective map reading is an obvious offshoot of this article halobuds

See! All of us who have played Halo 1 & 2 knew this tip, but there are a lot of new people who are playing Halo 3 for the first time. Some people thought I was crazy for posting such a “basic” Halo tip. HaloBuds is lookin out for the noobs.
