Multiplayer, Battle Rifle & The Red Dot

Red Dot - Low ResThe HaloBuds (not just me, but all of us) were playing some multiplayer the other night. Ever get bored waiting for the match to start? Yeah, me too.

This time was different because I actually started reading the little multiplayer tips, right there in the lower left corner of the screen. They just flash by as you’re waiting for a new multiplayer match to start… And wouldn’t ya know, they’re kinda helpful!

Especially, this little gem about the Battle Rifle…

It said something like, “when you’re zoomed in with the Battle Rifle, a red dot will appear inside the cross-hairs to when you’re targeting the enemy’s head.” - That’s what I like to call a seriously under-utilized Halo 3 tip ya’ll!

So, I put it to the test and, Bungie don’t lie — It worked like a champ.

Talk about a way to seriously conserve your Battle Rifle ammo — Just shoot when you’re sure you’ll get a headshot. Nice.

The photo above shows the “red dot” right in the center. It’s difficult to see, so here’s a link to the very high-res image.

And thanks to KBO911 for (unknowingly) participating in this experiment. You’re a good dude :)

One more tip: The message also said that other “zooming” weapons will display the “red dot” — Not just the Battle Rifle.

LOL. This doesn’t help too much. Just land 5-6 body shots, and end with a head shot. I like to do sit-ups while waiting for a game to start. It’s my only form of exercise!

Great gun, but now I need to learn where they are on all the maps. Jeesh! Wouldn’t it be cool if you could customize your weapons! Like in Rainbow.

Yeah.. Its been there a long time..
But why is it that some fellas can take 3 shots of BR to kill you when I take more than that to kill the, even if i aim directly at the head??

Oh, grenade spamming is a great strategy too.. the physics is near real-world, so a well anticipated grenade throw leading the target’s direction is quite a head start.. followed by a BR lol
anibody know how to execute a grenade return?

It isn’t that great of a tip and the dot isn’t really hard to notice. And it just shows that u don’t really pay that good attention. And having a bad TV is not a good excuse.
