The Hornet… Death Machine?

a hornetWith the release of the Legendary map pack, there have been several new features for avid Halo fanatics to drool over. One of the most noticeable is the debut of the lovable Hornet in matchmaking. However, with this gift has come murmurs of discontent.

The original Hornet was rightly feared as a harbringer of aerial death, utilized as a heavy-duty death platform, largely thanks to its stunning array of weapon systems. Dual gatling cannons and automated seeker missiles made it nigh unstoppable in almost any combat scenario. However, with its introduction into matchmaking, some players were shocked to learn that the missiles have been stripped away, along with a serious deduction to the power of the main cannons.

This is not a bad thing. To be blunt, the Hornet was massively overpowered and would dominate any matchmaking playlist with ease. Some people have been so concerned with the Hornets downgrading they have failed to notice the good points. With increased speed and maneuverability, this is an unmatched transport craft and is invaluable in both flanking attacks, objective games and heavy weapons support. (try leaning over the side with a rocket launcher or spartan laser, now imagine the looks of horror on your opponents face) Also, once you have safely airlifted your allies into position, the Hornets guns are still more than adequate support to flatten any enemy, when friendly infantry focus their firepower along with you. All in all, the Hornet is still just as effective as before if used correctly, it just requires a bit more strategy and experimentation in game to find that nack.

The hornet is probably the best war machine on halo 3 because it is so powerful that it bacically dominates the halo relm. it has extrmly powerful cannons, it has a machine gun and its a fast flyer, bacically its a brute that dominates halo.
