Been playing any Slayer in Halo 3 lately?
Or any game on Xbox Live since… I don’t know… December 25th? I’m sure you’ve noticed how unstable Xbox Live has been - I sure did and so did everybody else I know.
Let me think… What could have happened on or near December 25?
Yes, it was Christmas.
And all of the hundreds of thousands of trillion-jillion people who got an Xbox Live account that day - flooded the system, choked the servers and booted hordes of good buds (like you and me) off the system. :(
Or wouldn’t let you get on in some cases (Ask Lo Pan how that feels)
Dan Landis from RipTen.com did his own investigation on the horrible connectivity and got the a great answer from the Xbox Live hotline:
Anyhow, long story short, the agent tells me that the Xbox LIVE servers are having difficulty dealing with the massive influx of users that apparently got a 360 for Christmas. “Seriously?” I asked. “Yes, seriously” he responded.
The article also says that Xbox Live had temporarily shut down all new account activations!
Can you imagine all those kids unwrapping a brand-spankin-new box… Plugging it in, loading up Halo 3 - and denied the Live account…
I bet there were some seriously irritated kids (and parents) on Christmas day.
Must suck to be working the phones at Xbox Live.

It’s really lame! I’ve had way too many issues. I’m at the really frustrated point now. Bullshit!
Friday was the worst day for this; Halo 3 and COD4 were officially down for the day. I managed to get on around 4:30PM CST and played one game of LW, and after that, the connectivity had disappeared.
Those of us who were desperate for some playtime ended up screwing around in forge in Foundry. I think we were able to get back on around 10:30PM CST and did some DLC matchmaking which went SMOOTHLY.
Yesterday was up/down again. Couldn’t send invites or join current games; Matchmaking for ranked was pretty choppy (you know the whole connecting, then network error msg)… Still can’t receive/send out messages.
I can’t say I wasn’t surprised for this happening. Businesses like this will never prepare for the worst case scenario. I can only imagine how badly the support team got their asses reamed by customers. D:
I know my boyfriend called live a few times to bitch. :3
