The Melee is Broken! The Melee is Broken!

broken meleeAll you melee freaks were right - The Halo 3 melee is officially broken! Even bungie has admitted the issue and is working with some “hardcore” Halo players (pros) to help fix the problem. Finally…

Here’s a clip from bungie.net :

But speaking of feedback, today we had a couple of relatively senior MLG players in the office to help us in the final stages of our melee “fix” testing. We’ve been working through this process with a watchmaker’s attention to detail – and it is a very tricky problem to address. It should be pointed out that the majority of Halo players probably haven’t noticed anything is even wrong with melee – but at the competitive end of the spectrum, there are issues with several granular melee features – simultaneous strikes, shield depletion and so on.

The bottom line is that we felt it could be improved without alienating folks who hadn’t noticed any problem and so we’ve been working with real life players, like one or two external hardcore clans, as well as the MLG guys, to make sure the changes are satisfactory, balanced, fair and fun.

Should we be insulted by that? I mean, I’m no pro Halo player… but come on! We knew about this bogus melee crap way back when! At least they’re working on a fix. Better late than never.

it should be like Gears if u both melee at the same time u both go down other than that who hits 1st should win. Easy what so hard about that bungie.

That sure would stop a lot of bickering… But what if they don’t? What if they make some tweaks that the casual gamer won’t even notice?

My guess is that the new melee system will not be that simple.

well there is a few bugs with it. high end lone wolves games make that much quickly apparent >.>

besides its not who strikes first if you think about it. theres a lot of differing opinions on things like being battle rifled twice in the head should account for more than a few assault rifle rounds etc. to be honest i dont mind that much, i just back up and shoot people as a general rule. its more reliable.

    bungie says what their doing.
For the people that dont want to read ill put it short. if your within roughly 4-5 AR bullets you will both die.
It also explains what they were trying to do with the broken system to better it from halo 2
